Successful Cemetery and Crematorium Open Day
17th September 2018
More than 300 people took part in a behind the scenes tours on Saturday, enabling them to see at first hand all aspects relative to cremation.
Myths surrounding cremation were dispelled on the crematorium tours, whilst questions and advice about burial, and funerals were answered by the professionals in attendance.
Councillor David Marren, Chairman, Orbitas Bereavement Services said:
“The open day has not only provided the opportunity for people to see what services are available to plan a funeral but also a chance to see what happens behind the scenes when the curtains close on the coffin.”
He added:
“people I spoke to on the day said that they found the visit therapeutic, it has managed to put people’s minds at ease, getting answers to their questions. It has been a really successful event which I hope can be repeated in the future.”
The day ended with a service in the chapel with songs by the MicWire Choir, an invitation to light candles to remember loved ones and an opportunity to place a heart tribute on “the golden tree”.
